Note: We use a Let's Encrypt TLS certificate, which is trusted by default in most IRC clients. No manual certificate acceptance should be required.

The easiest way to connect is through our web client at irc.folk.zone. No software installation required.

Troubleshooting

Connection Timeout

If you get a connection timeout, check that:

  • You're using port 6697 (not 6667)
  • TLS/SSL is enabled
  • Your firewall isn't blocking the connection

Certificate Errors

The certificate is a standard Let's Encrypt certificate, trusted by default. If your client reports a certificate error:

  • Check that your system clock is correct
  • Update your OS or client so the current root CA bundle is installed
  • Verify the fingerprint against the SHA512 fingerprint listed above

Can't Connect

If you still can't connect, try the web client at irc.folk.zone as a fallback.
